University of Oklahoma, School of Music, Choral Activities If you like to sing, there is a choir for you. Ensembles are open by audition to all students at the University, regardless of major, whether you are an accomplished choral singer or you want to develop and refine abilities. All choirs perform in various concerts throughout the year. We invite you to become part of this great tradition! Auditions for OU Choral Ensembles will be held this fall on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, August 23rd, 24th, and 25th. OU offers master’s and doctoral degrees in choral conducting (MM and DMA) and in choral music education (MME and Ph.D). The University of Oklahoma Choral Conducting program is an elite program limited to a handful of graduate students a year. Study focuses on the awareness of repertoire from all historical eras, with attention to performance practice considerations. Upon completion of the program, students will be well versed in a broad repertoire and fully conversant with genres, composers and representatives. Each choral conducting student will receive conducting experience with university ensembles, including orchestral conducting experience. Graduates of the university’s choral conducting program are well prepared for a professional career in music performance or music education/research., and OU’s graduates currently hold significant conducting and teaching positions throughout the country University of Oklahoma Choral Website
