The Florida Orchestra Under the leadership of Music Director Stefan Sanderling, The Florida Orchestra is recognized as Tampa Bay's leading performing arts institution, one of the leading professional symphony orchestras in Florida, and one of the best regional orchestras in America. In fact in 2003, the American Record Guide said, "The Florida Orchestra is now positioned to attain the next stage of recognition, on the national and worldwide level." With 80 professional musicians, the orchestra performs more than 150 concerts annually in the tri-city area of Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Petersburg. Concert series include the Progress Energy Masterworks, Raymond James Super Pops, Holland American Line Coffee Concerts, free Target Pops in the Parks, and youth concerts. Richard Zielinski has been a guest conductor for The Florida Orchestra for performances of Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Bach’s B-Minor Mass, annual holiday concerts, and over a dozen Coffee Concerts, Blue Jeans Classics Concerts, and educational Youth concerts. He has also prepared numerous choirs (Master Chorale, USF, Richard Zielinski Singers) for over 100 performances with the Florida Orchestra under the direction of national and international conductors.
